Vice President Leni Robredo and Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III received “good” ratings for their performance in the second quarter of 2017, an improvement from their “moderate” ratings in the first quarter of the year, based on the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results.

The nationwide survey conducted last June 23-26 among 1,200 respondents found that 60 percent of Filipinos were satisfied and 24 dissatisfied with Vice President Robredo’s performance in the past three months. This translates to a net rating of “good” +36 (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied), which is higher than the “moderate” +26 (53 percent satisfied, 27 percent dissatisfied) in the March survey.

Likewise, Pimentel’s satisfaction rating improved from a “moderate” +29 (49 percent satisfied and 20 percent dissatisfied) to “good” +33 (53 percent satisfied, 20 percent dissatisfied).

SWS terminology for net satisfaction ratings are translated as follows: +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69 “very good”; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to –9 “neutral”; -10 to –29 “poor”; -30 to –49 “bad”; -50 to –69 “very bad”; and -70 and below “execrable.”

Meanwhile, the public satisfaction ratings of Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno have been improving but remained “moderate” in the June survey.

Alvarez’s net satisfaction rating was at +16 (40 percent satisfied, 25 percent dissatisfied) in June from +12 (37 percent satisfied, 25 percent satisfied) in March.

Sereno’s net satisfaction rating was at +21 (43 percent satisfied, 23 percent dissatisfied) in June from +14 (37 percent satisfied, 23 percent dissatisfied).

President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating, which was revealed last July 7, was “very good” +66 (78 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied).

The SWS survey results on public satisfaction with the top government officials were released a day after the Pulse Asia released its survey results on Filipinos’ approval and trust ratings with the officials, including President Duterte.

The noncommissioned surveys conducted by the two different firms were consistent with each other, as the Pulse Asia also found improvements in the performance and trust ratings of the five officials.
