The Philippine Heart Association (PHA) reminded and cautioned the public to watch their rice consumption amid numerous ‘unli rice’ promotions of dining establishments, which can pose serious health hazards.
‘Unli rice’ or the unlimited serving of rice has been one of the more common promos in fast food chains, wherein customers can consume as many rice servings they want.
PHA Advocacy Committee Chairman Ronald Cuyco, warned the public that consuming several servings of rice will likely lead to obesity.
Obesity has been linked by medical experts to heart ailments, stroke and hypertension.
Cuyco said diners fond of ‘unli rice’ promos may maintain the habit even at home.
“It will become a habit. Even if they are at home, that will become a habit,” said the PHA official.
