Government troopers clashed on Saturday with members of the Abu Sayyaf Group in Patikul, Sulu resulting in the death of three bandits and a soldier.
Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu, said 15 soldiers were wounded when security forces clashed with bandits led by and Almujer Yada, both under the command of Radullan Sahiron at about 9 a.m. near the boundary of Barangays Danag and Buhangin. The gunfight lasted for four hours.
Most of the wounded soldiers were hit by shrapnel of an M203 grenade launcher.
“This is part of our continuing efforts to rescue kidnap victims and finish off the Abu Sayyaf,” said Sobejana.
“There a lot of bloodstains in the area, indication that there were a lot of wounded on their side,” he added.
