The entire province of Agusan del Norte is now under curfew effective Monday.
The curfew hours, from 12 midnight to 4 a.m., is being implemented after the provincial government through the provincial peace and order council (PPOC) passed a resolution last Friday.
Agusan del Norte Gov. Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante-Matba urged Agusanons to abide by the curfew hours. “After all this is good for everybody,” she said.
The provincial chief executive, who is also the chair of the PPOC, asked her constituents to respect the military and the police in the implementation of martial law.
Aside of declaring curfew hours, the council also declared support to President Duterte’s declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
Matba said she supported Duterte’s declaration of martial law to thwart of what she described acts of terrorism that already killed many persons mostly soldiers and civilians in Marawi City.
“Just stay calm and let us all support the authorities.” stressed the governor.
She asked Agusanons to immediately report to the military and the police any unusual movements of groups or individuals in their respective localities, including possible police and military abuses.
Members of PPOC conducted their council meeting at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Training Convention/Training Hall here in declaring curfew hours in the whole province.
