Duterte to Cimatu: Always do it for the country

By Argyll Cyrus Geducos

President Duterte has revealed his lone marching order to his new Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu–just do his duty.

In the pilot episode of his program “Mula sa Masa, Para sa Masa” aired over PTV4 and the Presidential Communications Facebook Page Friday (May 19) night, Duterte disclosed that he chose ‘honest’ and ‘hardworking’ Cimatu as the new Environment chief as he believes in him.

“Right after I swore him into office, sinabi ko lang, ‘You are there in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources [DENR], just do your duty, do it right, and always do it for the country,” he revealed.

“Mula Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa” is a revamped version of Duterte’s old weekend show which he used to host when he was still mayor of Davao City. Serving as Duterte’s co-host in his new show is PTV4 Director for Operations Rocky Ignacio.

“He would know what to do and he will do it right,” he said, referring to how he urged Cimatu to read the provisions of mining laws and to enforce it.

Duterte also said that Cimatu meets his requirement to become a member of his Cabinet–to serve the country with honesty and integrity.

“He’s a silent guy, a very low-key personality, but he does his work very well,” he said while recalling how he used to work with the former chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Davao City.

“Alam niya ang ugali ko, at alam niya kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng public service,” Duterte said.

“Matagal na kaming magkasama and I’m sure he’ll do his best for his country,” Duterte added.

He is from PMA … Maybe, then he’ll do it for money and not for the country….

Let us watch the 100 days of Cimatu’s performance if he can do what Gina Lopez does.

Are you suggesting that PMAers do it for money? Gen Bato is a PMAer. Is he in as the Chief for money? That is disturbing. But I digress.
Let us not judge the guy. He has not even started yet. Now that he has pledged to work for the country, let us wait what the CA will say about that.
