Tanay, Rizal/Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City — A Philippine Air Force (PAF) pilot and his two crew members were killed while another crew member was injured after the HD-1D (Huey) helicopter they were riding crash landed at Camp Capinpin, here, yesterday afternoon.
The names of the fatalities were not released by the military as of press time as their relatives had yet to be informed of the accident at 3:20 p.m.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) confirmed the incident based on the report received by the Tanay Municipal Police Station (MPS) from Sergeant Noel Saminiano of the 2nd Infantry Division (2nd ID) of the Philippine Army, based in Camp Capinpin.
Lt. Xy-zon Meneses, 2nd ID spokesman, said the injured crew member was taken to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center for treatment.
Meneses said that prior to the incident, the pilot and crew of the Huey helicopter just concluded a training on Air to Ground and Disaster Rescue Operation (AGOS) at Camp Capinpin in Sitio Hilltop, Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay.
The training included 60 soldiers coming from the 2nd ID and 12 policemen from Region 4-A.
Supt. Ruben Piquero, chief of the Community Relations Branch of the Rizal PPO, said probers were still at the crash site conducting follow up investigation as of this writing.
