The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Region 1 is set to mark the observance of the Labor Day on May 1 with three simultaneous job fairs in the provinces of Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan.
DOLE Region 1 Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said their agency will adopt the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK), a collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on employment generation and facilitation.
He said three job and business fairs on May 1 are set in the Robinsons Place, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; CB Mall, Urdaneta City, and Lingayen, Pangasinan.
“We make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fit their qualifications, interests and career inclinations; while we continue to review our entrepreneurship and livelihood programs to improve our assistance to those seeking livelihood and want to venture into entrepreneurial activities,” the regional director said.
This year’s theme, “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago,” underscores the agency’s role in the achievement of decent work and economic growth as enshrined in the TNK.
The said concept is a blueprint in achieving full employment at 5-percent unemployment rate by creating 7.5 million jobs mainly in key employment-generating sectors (KEGS) specifically in manufacturing, agri-business, construction, tourism, IT-BPM, transportation and logistics, and retail trade.
One-stop employment and legal services are also available during the job fairs.
“The general public is encouraged to participate in the celebrations and take advantage of the opportunities and services which are offered by our participating agencies and employers,” Lacambra said.
