Iloilo City – This city is again playing host to minor meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The first part of the Community-Driven Development in the context of ASEAN Social Protection Framework opened Monday with a training facilitated by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias welcomed anti-poverty officials from ASEAN member states.
The April 24 to 28 training sessions will focus on “making social protection more inclusive” especially among local governments of ASEAN member states.
With backing from the Japan-ASEAN Integrated Fund, this particular program is implemented under the Social Protection Regional Framework Action Plan Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (RFAP-RDPE).
Prior to the weeklong training, the participants visited the nearby island province of Guimaras for a study visit.
Last March, Iloilo also hosted the 17th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) meeting and the ASEAN’s Good Regulatory Practice Network (GRPN) meetings.
