Members of the Philippine Army in Sulu who conducted search and rescue operations found kidnapped Staff Sgt. Anni Siraji — who was forcibly taken by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) last week — found his body in a remote sitio in the village of Taglibi in Patikul, Sulu around 2pm Sunday.
Reports reaching Zamboanga City Sunday night indicated that joint elements of 32nd Infantry Battalion (IB) and the 11th Military Intelligence Company (MICO) recovered the decapitated cadaver of Siraji and his severed head far apart and in advanced state of decomposition.
The military report said it was believed that the ASG executed Siraji about three days ago at sitio Kan Suil, Barangay Taglibi in Patikul, Sulu, the main stronghold of the ASG in Sulu.
About seven ASG members led by Waltun Julhasan abducted Siraji at about 9:30 am, on Thursday at barangay Igasan in Patikul, Sulu.
