Despite initiatives by some groups to oust her, Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo continues to focus on her work.
“It is clear during the last time they met, the President and Vice President are focused on their respective work,” Vice Presidential Legal Adviser Barry Gutierrez said in Filipino.
“They respect each other’s mandate,” he added.
Gutierrez made the remarks following the indignation rally organized by President Duterte’s staunch supporters at Rizal Park in Manila to back the removal of Robredo from office.
He said these supporters of Duterte’s are answerable to him for pushing through with impeachment calls on Robredo despite his order to stop it.
The last time the country’s top two leaders met was during the graduation rites of the Philippine National Police Academy.
Duterte told Robredo that he will not allow the impeachment complaint against her to prosper.
Robredo is in South Africa to keynote a women’s conference, coinciding with the “Palit-Bise” protest action, calling for her impeachment.
