ASG member nabbed in Zamboanga City port

 Zamboanga City – A member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and the leader and members of a lawless group operating in  the town of Omar in Sulu province were arrested due to the intensified law enforcement operations of the military and police in  this city and in Sulu.

Armed Forces of the Philippines – Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) Spokesman Capt. Jo-Ann Petinglay said elements of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga  (JTF-Zamboanga) and  policemen from the Zamboanga City Police Office arrested ASG member Amilton Tammang, alias Nonoy  and Dondon, at the port area of Zamboanga City,  about  7 a.m. last Thursday.

Petinglay said Tammang, 29  and a resident of Barangay Liang, Patikul, Sulu, was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder and frustrated murder.

She said  soldiers  of  JTF Zamboanga responded to the  call of a  concerned citizen who spotted Tammang  at the port in this city.

According to Petinglay, Tammang was a member of the notoriousAjang-Ajang group operating in Jolo, Sulu.

Tammang  was  tagged  as one of the responsible in the harassment of a construction company in Barangay Liang, Patikul, Sulu in 2016 where a construction worker was beheaded, she said.

Tammang was turned over to the Zamboanga City Police Office for documentation, proper disposition, and legal procedure on Thursday morning.

This developed as the Task Group  Panther of the Joint Task Force Sulu and personnel of the Omar Municipal Police Station seven members of a lawless group, including its leader, in Barangay Capual, Omar, Sulu at 5:08am last Wednesday.

Nabbed were group leader Saudi Hamja, and Pau Kahil Hamja, both of whom have arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder; Adzmar Omar, Amil Mangcabong, and Ayob Mangcabong, who were charged with arson; and Jairani Ajirani and Sali Adyhar, who will face charges of illegal possession of firearms, Petinglay said.
