Cebu City — A self-confessed drug addict has admitted to killing a four-year-old son of a policeman, in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, this city, last Thursday.
Danilo Remulta, a balut vendor, said he stabbed Emmanuel Martinez Jr because the boy had been teasing him.
According to the Mambaling police station chief, Senior Inspector Eduard Sanchez, Remulta approached the boy and stabbed him in the back. The knife hit the boy’s heart, Sanchez said.
“The boy was shouting bad words at me. There were also voices that told me to stab him,” Remulta told reporters.
The boy’s father, PO1 Emmanuel Martinez, who is assigned at the San Nicolas Police Station, was off duty when the stabbing happened. He said he was not carrying his gun when he responded to the incident.
Witnesses said the boy was able to run to his father before he collapsed.
Remulta admitted to investigators he was drunk and high on drugs when he committed the crime. He sustained severe bruises and contusions on his face after he was mauled by bystanders.
Police charged Remulta with murder.
