Tandag City – More troops have been deployed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Surigao del Sur.
The 16th Special Forces Company of the Special Forces Regiment Airborne, Special Operations Command, arrived here on Saturday via C-130 Air force cargo plane.
The arrival of new troops was welcomed by top area commanders and provincial and city officials here.
Col. Franco Nemesio Gacal, commanding officer of the Army’s 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade based here, said he was confident that the troops can easily adjust in their new assignment.
He also asked the troops to assist the local government unit and 402nd Brigade to achieve their mission, which is to create an environment conducive to development and lasting peace.
This troops were formerly assigned in Jolo, Sulu under Capt. Michael Jameson Constantino.
