Four people were killed while 23 others were wounded after a robber lobbed a grenade while being pursued after allegedly stealing from a grocery store in Jolo, Sulu.
Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) regional police, identified the suspect as Sedimar Rabbah, 22, a resident of Barangay Buhanginan in Patikul town.
“Our personnel immediately responded in the area and arrested the suspect. He is now under our custody,” said Sindac.
Sindac also immediately dismissed initial report of terror attack, saying the suspect is a known robber in Jolo.
“It was definitely not a terror attack,” said Sindac.
Col. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, said the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. Saturday at Karina Bakeshop and Grocery in Sitio Lambayong, Barangay Busbus, Jolo.
Two were instantly killed when the grenade was tossed into the bakery.
