Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia, Imus, Cavite – Police filed criminal charges against five suspects in connection with the abduction of car dealer Rommel Dollente Acar in Silang town last Monday.
A Cavite police team rescued Acar unscathed in a room at Vista Lodge Inn in Tanza Monday evening.
Acar, from General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), was found blindfolded and tied during the rescue.
The suspects yielded guns, grenades and fake Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identification cards following their arrest before and after Acar’s rescue.
They identified themselves as PDEA agents during Acar’s abduction.
Those charged with kidnapping, usurpation of authority and illegal possession of firearms and explosives were Rodnie Cabarles Bolano, 38, a resident of Pamayanang Maliksi, Barangay Pasong Kawayan II, General Trias City; Christian Gonzaga Alberto, 37, of Barangay Lallana, Trece Martires City; Roberto Aguhar Espinosa, 42, Elmer Gregorio Francisco, 46, and Apolinario Clapano Lucero 37, all of Barangay Paradahan, Tanza.
PO3 Anthony S. Morcillo, case investigator, reported that Acar, also known as “Ponga,” was kidnapped by armed men in a white Toyota Hi-Ace Van (without plate number) in Barangay Maguyam in Silang, at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Morcillo said that the kidnappers first demanded a P1-million ransom from Acar’s family, before the sum was reduced to P150,000.
Police surveillance operatives spotted the van driven by Bolano, with installed plate No. ABF 5983, in Barangay Langkaan II, Dasmariñas City and tailed it in Trece Martires, General Trias and Tanza, where Bolano was eventually arrested.
During interrogation, Bolano revealed to police the whereabouts of his cohorts and Acar.
Acar positively identified Bolano and the four other suspects as his abductors.
