Duterte couple from Zamboanga abducted by armed men last Friday

A couple was reportedly abducted by armed men in Zamboanga del Norte on Friday evening.

Siocon police chief, C/Insp. Joseph Reales Maulad confirmed that armed men abducted coconut farmers Jose Duterte, 62, and wife Jesica Barason-Duterte, 52, from their home at Sitio Tabuk, Barangay Sta. Maria, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte at around 7:45 p.m.

Authorities said seven armed men wearing police uniforms forced the couple to ride on a speed boat headed to a still-unidentified location, according to Bombo Radyo.

A joint operation between the military and the police is ongoing to pursue the suspects. Authorities are still trying to determine if the couple is related to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
