The two Senate security personnel tasked to guard detained Sen. Leila de Lima at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Quezon city have been pulled out.
This was revealed by Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III who said: “Useless na naman at nag-regroup na muna kami to find out a way kung paano natin ma-convince ang people in control of the detention center to allow.”
Pimentel conceded that the PNP has control over the PNP headquarters just like the Senate leadership, through the Office of the Sergeant at Arms (OSAA), has control over the Senate premises.
Asked if he has plans to visit de Lima, Pimentel replied: “In due time.”
He said he has no formal communication from de Lima although she could continue to function as a senator by being able to file bills, her staff being allowed to visit her and “everything continues except that [she is] under detention.”
“Look, she was able to write to us. It was read in plenary It was in written form,” he added.
