The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reportedly prohibited members of the media from covering Philippine National Police’s chief director General Ronald dela Rosa’s New Year’s Call.
According to GMA News, media members were reportedly barred from entering the PNP Multi-Purpose Hall where the event was held, unlike in previous years when reporters were allowed to cover the traditional PNP New Year’s call. Dela Rosa gave his address and met with his regional directors and head of national support units and their spouses.
The PNP chief, however, did not give any explanation when asked by reporters why the event was not allowed for media coverage.
Dela Rosa drew flak last month when he announced bonuses ranging from P50,000 to P400,000 bonus for him down to the police provincial directors. He had to recall this announcement after Malacanang disapproved the payment of any bonuses. (Maria Cecilia Pedrocillo)
