Mocha Uson appointed MTRCB board member

Rabid Duterte supporter Mocha Uson has received papers to officially join the current administration.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed last month the appointment of singer/blogger Mocha Uson — Margaux Justiniano Uson in real life — as a new member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for a nine-month-term until September 30, 2017.

Presidential spokesman, Ernesto Abella said the President signed the appointment paper last December 28.

“Pursuant to the provisions of the existing laws, you are hereby appointed MEMBER, MOVIE AND TELEVISION REVIEW AND CLASSIFICATION BOARD, for a term expiring on 30 September 2017,” the appointment letter read. “By virtue hereof, you may quality and enter upon the performance of duties of the office, furnishing this Office and the Civil Service Commission with copies of your oath of office.”

When asked why the President appointed Uson to the MTRCB post, Abella stated: “I’m not privy to the reasoning behind but I can find out.”

Abella also downplayed concerns that Uson’s previous work experience in sex education might have an impact on her new MTRCB position. “As far as I know, when you enter into public office, you are supposed to delineate yourself between your past job, and present position,” he added.

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, however, defended Mocha’s appointment, insisting that she is qualified for the new job as MTRCB board member.

“Why not? What makes her not qualified?” Andanar answered in a chance interview with reporters.

“Mocha is an artist. She is one of the biggest artists that we have in the country. She’s been in the show business for more than a decade,” he added.
