The military said Monday, December 12 that the last two of the seven kidnapped crew men of T/B Charles 00 were freed by the Abu Sayyaf after six months in captivity.
Indonesians Mohammad Nazer, 62 and Robin Peter, 32 were released by their ASG captors to Moro National Liberation Front Commander Tahir Sali in Indanan, Sulu, said Maj. Filemon Tan Jr., spokesman of the AFP Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom).
Tan said Sali initially turned over the victims to Sulu Vice Governor and acting Governor Nurunnisa Tan at about 11:30 a.m. and then handed them over to Col. Jesus Manaquil, the commander of Joint Task Force Sulu in Camp Bautista, Bus-Bus, Jolo.
They had undergone medical checkup at the Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista (KHTB) trauma hospital.
The Westmincom spokesman said the Abu Sayyaf reportedly freed their victims after being pressured by non-stop operations of the JTF Sulu and pressure by the MNLF.
The victims were taken by the bandits on June 22 at the vicinity of Simisa in Sulu.
