TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — All open dumpsites in Cavite province would be closed and rehabilitated in compliance to Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.

Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-RNRO) Chief Rolinio P. Pozas said the move was made after the seven cities and 16 municipalities of the province were required to submit their waste management or garbage disposal plan.

The solid waste management plan for cities and municipalities would have to be consistent with the National Solid Waste Management Framework and approved by the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC).

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Commission on Audit (COA) and other agencies are monitoring closely the actions being taken against open dumpsites in the province and elsewhere in the country.

The solid waste management plan would have to be consistent with the National Solid Waste Management Framework and approved by the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC).
