By Freddie C. Velez

NORZAGARAY, Bulacan — Five suspected drug pushers reportedly fired shots at Bulacan police, spelling their own doom in Barangay FVR, here, last Sunday night, and just yesterday morning, another drug target shot it out with buy-bust operatives in Hagonoy town and also ended up dead.

Supt. Rizalino Andaya, Norzagaray chief of police, said a search warrant was being served by police at Block 22, Lot 64, Phase 2, Barangay FVR, when five suspects listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watch list allegedly shot it out with police and killed as lawmen retaliated.

Quoting Andaya’s report, Senior Superintendent Romeo M. Caramat Jr., Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, identified the fatalities as Richard Calonzo, alias “White;” Angel Ivano; Levi Mateo; Chito Talento, with aliases “Totoy” and “Palo;” and an alias “Neneng Boxer.”

Caramat said the police operatives were closing in on the houses of subjects Wenceslao Arpon Cular, alias “Abba;” Manolo Mangaya Magracia; Julius Alejandro Bernardino alias “Akong;” and an alias “Palo” when “Angel” and “Neneng Boxer” spotted them and shouted, “Mga pulis! Mga pulis!”

The next moment, shots were fired at elements of the Norzagaray Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operative Task Force and a fierce gunbattle ensued until five of the armed suspects were killed.

Yesterday, another suspected armed drug pusher was killed by police in a pre-dawn buy-bust operation in Barangay Barangay San Pedro, Hagonoy.

The fatality was only identified by Chief Insp. Restituto E. Granil, acting Hagonoy police chie, as alias “Victor,” of legal age, native of Bocaue and a suspected drug pusher.
