Otis bridge in Paco closed to traffic

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to take alternate routes as Otis Bridge in Paco, Manila was closed due to its “progressive collapse” on midnight Monday.

“Otis Manila Bridge closed to traffic as per MDRRMC due to unstability. Motorists are advised to avoid the location and take alternate routes,” said MMDA in an advisory posted on Twitter.

According to Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the bridge was closed past 12 a.m. due to “progressive collapse” of the structure.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is mulling a total replacement for the bridge.
