High school student shot dead in Caloocan

A 17-year-old high school student who was an alleged drug peddler was shot dead after he reportedly fired at policemen in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City Wednesday night.

Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, Caloocan police chief, identified the slain drug personality as Kian Loyd Delos Santos, of Blk. 8 Lot 8, Libis Baesa, Barangay 160, Caloocan.

Initial investigation showed that operatives from Caloocan police’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) conducted an Oplan Galugad along Blk. 7, Riverside, Barangay Baesa around 8:45 p.m.

Reports said that Delos Santos noticed the approaching policemen so he reportedly pulled out his gun and fired shots at the cops, but missed.

PO3 Arnel Oares then retaliated and fatally hit Delos Santos in the body causing his instant death.

Retrieved from the crime scene were a caliber .45 firearm, four fired cartridge cases and two plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

Investigators said that according to the family of Delos Santos, he was not involved in any drug activities. (Kate Louise Javier)

Parking attendant shot dead in Manila

A parking attendant died after being shot by an unidentified suspect in a hardware canteen in Port Area, Manila Wednesday night.

SPO4 Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section identified the victim as 44-year-old Rodrigo Angelez, resident of the area.

Initial investigation showed that the incident happened about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday inside a hardware canteen at 13th Street near Roberto Oca Street.

A witness said Angelez was watching a horse racing game inside the canteen when they heard a single gunshot. (Jaimie Rose Aberia)

One-year-old baby found dead

Authorities are investigating after a one-year-old baby was found dead inside a house in Port Area, Manila Wednesday morning.

SPO1 Bernard S. Cayabyab, case investigator of Manila Police District- Homicide division, said that the baby, identified as Ronjan Yangurin, was pronounced dead-on- arrival at the Justice Jose Abad Santos Hospital.

Initial investigation showed that Ronjan was discovered lifeless about 10 a.m. inside his house in Baseco Compound by their neighbor named Helen Armin, 33.

Ronjan’s mother, Jenny, a 19-year-old vendor, told probers that she was in Divisoria when the incident occured.

Due to her busy schedule, Jenny decided to hire a babysitter, whom she only knew as “Madel.”

Armin went to the house of Jenny, only to discover that the baby was already lifeless while Madel was nowhere to be found.

Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation to locate the whereabouts of Madel to shed more light on the incident. (Analou De Vera)
