Building maintenance crew dies while repairing elevator
A building maintenance man died when he was stucked up at the car elevator he was fixing inside a condominium building Saturday in Parañaque City.
Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo, Parañaque City police chief, identified the victim as Henry Villafrance,53, a resident of BlockD11 Lot 3, Barangay San Andres 2, Dasmarinas Cavite.
Modequillo said that Villarfanca was already dead when rescued by Parañaque Rescue Team volunteers.
According to Modequillo, based on the investigation submitted to him the incident happened at about 10:15 p.m. at the service elevator of Washington tower located at barangay Don Galo, Parañaque City.
The city police chief said that based on the testimony of a witness identified as Mario Lopez, prior to the accident, the victim went on top of the car elevator and tried to check it out when the elevator stuck-up between the ground floor and basement I.
Lopez told police that the elevator suddenly moved causing the victim to be stucked up on the left portion of the car elevator.
Modequillo said that the lifeless body of the victim was retrieved after ten hours.
Arturo Abriza, brother-in-law of the victim, told police that he was with the victim who was also fixing the elevator when it suddenly moved causing the victim to lost his balance.
Abriza said that the victim was not given help immediately and the rescue team still need to use a metal cutter because of the small space where the body of the victim fell. (Jean Fernando)
Tricycle driver shot dead in Manila
A tricycle driver was killed after he was shot by three still unidentified gunmen in Sampaloc, Manila Saturday night.
Case investigator PO3 Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District- Homicide division, identified the fatality as 28-year-old Mark Yamson Alquero.
Alquero was standing near his parked tricycle along Calabash Street around 7:15 p.m., when the gunmen suddenly approached and peppered him with bullets.
The gunmen fled towards G. Tuazon Street as soon as Alquero fell on the pavement. (Analou De Vera)
21 drug suspects rounded up in QC
Twenty-one alleged drug personalities were nabbed in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Quezon City Saturday.
Operatives from the Novaliches Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Noe Balingasay, 22, Paul Christian Soriano, 36, Dennis Pañara, 46, Edward Queling, 43, Aljen Gayat, 37, Andrew Curameng, 45, and Jimmy Poras, 25.
Police were conducting Oplan Galugad at Barangay Gulod the other day when they chanced upon the suspects engaging in cara y cruz or a game of chance. Upon apprehension, sachets of suspected shabu were confiscated from them.
In Masambong Police Station, three drug suspects identified as Abelardo Leonardo, 54, Christopher Quindaran, 52, Georgette Agtarap, 42 were rounded up in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Antonio while Ramon Hocog was apprehended in Barangay San Roque.
Galas Police SDEU also conducted buy-bust operations resulting into apprehension of Ricardo Genove, 44, in Barangay Tatalon, and Conrado Reyes, 34, and Makahiro Cauilan, 20, yesterday morning in the same barangay.
Aileen Asula, 23, Jethro Asiddao, 37, and Leonardo Lastimosa, 42 were collared in a drug sting in Barangay Manresa launched by the operatives from La Loma Police Station.
Meanwhile, ten sachets of shabu were confiscated from Michael Esagunde, 21, and Princess De Guzman, 28 during a buy-bust operation carried out by the officers from Talipapa Police Station in Barangay Unang Sigaw.
The police officers nabbed another two more drug personalities identified as Joselito De Jesus, 46, and Karen Mae Tabon, 44, in a follow-up operation in Barangay Bahay Toro. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan)
