An estimated P20 million worth of fake North Face bags were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during raids conducted in Pasay City.
Operatives of the NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) confiscated 6,742 counterfeit North Face bags during operations last Tuesday.
The items were seized from retail stores at the Baclaran Terminal Plaza Mall located along Taft Avenue Extension.
Operatives seized more counterfeit items from four stock rooms at Sunjoy Tower 1 located along Capt. Ambo St.
The owners of the stores face charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The operation was conducted following surveillance and test buys made by the NBI.
The NBI acted on the complaint of Orion Support Incorporated (OSI), a market research firm representing the Intellectual Property rights of The North Face Apparel Corp. in the Philippines.
After confirming the presence of the fake products, the NBI secured a search warrant from Judge Maria Victoria Soriano-Villadolid of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 24.
