Davao City – The Aboitiz Group of Companies here is pushing to plant 11,500 trees by the end of the year, according to a statement from the company.
This, after the Davao Light and Power Company, Inc. (DLPC) planted an estimated 3,300 molave seedlings and mangrove propagules, as well as fruit bearing trees, at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, Purok Punta Dumalag in Barangay Matina Aplaya.
This was the Mindanao Aboitiz company’s contribution to its group-wide simultaneous tree-planting across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao last July 15.
Erramon I. Aboitiz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, disclosed that the conglomerate plans to spearhead the planting of nine million trees by 2020.
“As you know, we had initially targeted three million trees by 2015. Thanks to your unfaltering efforts, we were able to reach that number a year earlier in 2014,” Aboitiz said.
“Thereafter, we set a new, more ambitious goal to plant nine million trees by 2020.We are three years away from completing our A-Park program, and based on our current number of 5.4 million trees planted, we need to double up our efforts to meet our nine million target by 2020. We are intensifying our efforts by partnering with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI),” Aboitiz said.
