Police assured on Tuesday that all security measures are already in place for the concert of American singer Britney Spears at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City on Thursday, June 15.
The assurance came from National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) Director Oscar Albayalde and Southern Police District (SPD) Director Tomas Apolinario Jr. following their inspection of the concert venue at 2 p.m. today.
Apolinario said concert goers should expect strict security measures to be implemented. He advised concert goers to arrive at the venue at least an hour or two before the show starts to avoid delays at the security checkpoints.
These are all aimed at avoiding any untoward incident and thwarting any occurrence similar to the bombing of the concert venue of another American singer, Ariana Grande, in Manchester, England last month. Twenty-two people were killed in that incident.
He said about 200 security personnel from an inter-agency team will be deployed at the SM MOA Arena.
Apolinario reminded the concert goers to avoid bringing backpacks, big bags and to avoid wearing jackets as it may trigger suspicion from the security team.
The SPD director also disclosed that the “comprehensive security package” they will implement in Spears’ concert may be used for other future major events in the city.
After the Spears concert, Grande is also scheduled to perform at the SM MOA Arena on August 21, followed by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s concert on November 7.
