Duterte urges MILF, MNLF, NPA to help fight extremists in Marawi

Published

by Philippine News Agency

Zamboanga City – President Duterte has called on members of the two Moro fronts and the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to help the government fight the extremist groups amid the ongoing gun battle in Marawi City.

In what is seen as an unprecedented move, Duterte made the appeal to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), and the CPP’s New People’s Army (NPA) to join the government to fight the common enemy during his visit to the troops in Jolo, Sulu, over the weekend.

“I am willing to take you as soldiers of the republic, lahat – MI, MN, pati NPA,” Duterte said.

The President made the statement following a letter from Nur Misuari, the founding chairman of the MNLF, of his offer to help end the crisis in Marawi City.

“Alam mo, I am announcing to all na lahat ng sundalo ng MI, MN, kung matagal pa ito at gusto ninyong sumali, makipagsapalaran sa Republika,  I am offering them, kunin ko kayong sundalo, same pay, same privileges, and I will build houses for you in some areas,” he said.

The government and the two Moro fronts are in the process of peace negotiations while the talks with the communist group has been suspended.

Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), on Monday said in a televised press conference that they welcome the call of the President for the rebel groups to join the government in its fight against terrorists.

Padilla cited the success of the integration program  for  former combatants of the MNLF into  the AFP,  adding there have been many stories about the heroism of the “MNLF integrees” in the effort to free their areas of terror groups.

 ‘SCALAWAG’ COPS TO MARAWI

Meanwhile, erring policemen who are caught, especially by the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP), may be sent to Marawi City to help in the ongoing fight against the Maute Group, PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said yesterday.

“I have been comparing the situation of our forces there and that of these scalawag policemen,” he said. “While they (scalawag cops) are enjoying their air conditioned rooms, enjoying the fruits of their criminal labor, and contemplating on how they would earn money, our forces there are fighting for their survival,” he said.

Eleven policemen, mostly from Malabon, were recently caught by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) for allegedly abducting a woman and demanding P1 million and a kilo of shabu as ransom. “I am really frustrated at these scalawag policemen who continue to tarnish the image of the PNP,” he said

Last year, more than a hundred policemen from Metro Manila and Central Luzon were sent to Moro rebel and communist rebel-infested areas after they were implicated in the illegal drugs trade.

Dela Rosa, however, said that he could not send those who are already facing administrative and criminal charges, including the Malabon cops.

He said the start of Marawi deployment could be with those who would be arrested starting today. (With a report from Aaron B. Recuenco)

prerogative to ask help from mnlf, milf, npa? Is our Soldiers and PNP can’t handle the MAUTE GROUP? then this present administration is not better than Cory Aquino’s administration in terms of handling that kind of situation. Almost 10 Coup d’etat but did not declare Martial Law.

Listen, try to rewind his speech in the video. It was Nur Misuari who offers his soldiers to fight alongside with the government forces, it was only seconded by the president that he is also open to MILF if they are willing. The only difference with our martial law today is that almost or majority of the people in Mindanao are so cooperative, and they gave that thumbs up. The number of military now a days who has that values formation is high meaning they have that good education compared to Philippine Constabulary whom I considered a dangerous military that was until Cory’s time. Meron pa ring abusado pero managable.

You are right that it is the president’s prerogative to declare martial. Unfortunately, the president is incompetent and a psychopath which I fear most.

I have nothing to fear because he is for the people’s need. Don’t you ever know that 90% satisfied of his drug campaign. I will let you know why you think he is a psychopath because he was confined in a lawlessness society where he was a prosecutor. For him to counter these criminality and corrupt practice, he should exercise the language of a felon to upset the ego of the enemy of the nation. Why you said he is incompetent is it because you often heard of “patayan dito at patayan doon” it is his forte as he said many, many times as a prosecutor, damn I hate drugs! Try to look for the accomplishments of his cabinet members, you will see a lot of big accomplishments for the people and for the nation. No other cabinet members of the previous administration has done the same of this present leadership. Don’t you ever know that he has been prophesied a decade ago and what he’s doing is exactly the same, Nations was shaken, leaders are trying to reach out the Philippines.

I think we are all 90% do the same thinking, and this is the only way we could eliminate the cancer of the society. Even the president has nothing to do with our judicial system unless you and his allies will cooperate. Tell me your concrete solution, I will appreciate your opinion.

IS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE PANTYNILEON ALVAREZ A LAWYER?

DOES HE KNOW THAT IT IS A CRIME TO KILL AN INNOCENT PERSON?

WHY IS THIS IDIOT DECIDING IF THERE IS A NEED FOR JOINT SESSION ON MARTIAL LAW IF HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW THAT KILLING OF AN INNOCENT PERSON IS A CRIME?

ALVAREZ SHOULD BE DISBARRED FOR VIOLATING THE MORAL TURPITUDE REQUIREMENT TO PRACTICE LAW.

HE IMPREGNATED ANOTHER WOMAN WHILE MARRIED.

IF HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW THE MORAL TURPITUDE VIOLATION,
HOW CAN HE BE DECIDING ON MARTIAL LAW?
THAT AFFECT THE FATE OF OVER 100 MILLION FILIPINOS.
