The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to implement a 12-hour power outage on Saturday, April 22, 2017 which will affect the entire Siargao Island and parts of Surigao del Norte.
The NGCP advised Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Siargao Island Electric Cooperative and Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative 2 of the scheduled power interruption in order to facilitate preventive maintenance schedule of its high-voltage equipment, associated protection system in said areas.
Scheduled power interruption will start at 6 a.m. up to 6 p.m. on Saturday (April 22).
The 9 island towns in Siargao Island and parts of the 20 municipalities in Surigao del Norte and Surigao City are affected of the power outage.
NGCP Regional Corporate Communication and Public Affairs officer Glory Rebleza said the affected power facility that will be under preventive maintenance is the Placer-Madrid 69 KV line.
“The reason of the power outage is the repair of structures along Placer-Madrid 69 KV line,” Rebleza said, in a text message sent to The Manila Bulletin yesterday.
She said specific areas are determined by the affected distribution utility of Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Siargao Islands Electric Cooperative and Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative 2.
“NGCP will exert all efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled,” she added.
