Nineteen men have gotten undivided attention for dancing and singing atop towering electrical posts in Lezo town, Aklan province.
Engr. Alexis Regalado, manager of power distributor Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO), said the dancing activity was part of the April 3 graduation ceremony for newly-trained electricians and linemen.
“There were 25 who joined the training camp. But only 19 survived the series of trainings on mental, agility and physical endurance,” Regalado said during the graduation ceremony.
The dancing and singing electricians and linemen were the fourth batch since AKELCO introduced the concept in 2005.
Depending on their level of expertise, the 19 who braved the gloomy weather Monday now have a permanent job at AKELCO.
Regalado said their deployment is timely as the Lenten season nears and AKELCO wants to ensure there is sustainable power next week.
