About 82 percent of people in Metro Manila feel safer because of the Philippine National Police (PNP) war on illegal drugs based on the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia Research Inc., the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) disclosed.

The NCRPO’s war against illegal drugs was implemented on July 1, 2016 and its five months relentless implementation gained 82 percent approval rating from the public based on the result of the Pulse Asia Research survey question: “Compared to last year, I feel that it is less dangerous now in our place because of the campaign against illegal drugs.”

The survey was conducted on December 6 -11, 2016 in Metro Manila with randomly selected respondents from all walks of life.

NCRPO chief Police Director, Oscar A. Albayalde, said he is inspired by the result of the survey and assured the public to continue the thrust of the NCRPO on crime prevention and suppression, war against illegal drugs and illegal gambling and Internal Cleansing Program.

“This result will serve as our driving force to continue our mission on eradicating illegal drugs and other illegal activities in the Metro,” Albayalde said.

“We will take this accomplishment as one of our basis and guide to further improve our performance, to address the security demands of the public, and to further pursue our transformation program.” Albayalde added.

Albayalde, at the same time, expressed his gratitude to the public and further encouraged them to continue their support and cooperation to all the NCRPO undertakings. He acknowledged the significance of the information sharing that lead to the arrest and neutralization of illegal drugs personalities.

Albayalde assured that all the information, reports and complaints of public will be acted accordingly and promptly.

“The fulfillment of the service that we render to the public is the acceptance of the public of our services, as we have always emphasized that policing is not just our responsibility but the community as well,” Albayalde said.

“The response they provided in this survey reflects their concerns. We will innovate and do more until we get to 100 percent,” he said.

  • Tony

Yes we feel safe right now, but do you notice not a single drug lord is capture or kill, what we have is killing of drug user or dealer. This is very dangerous , why I am saying . Bec once duterte step down those drug lord will be more aggressive and more daring in recouping the losses that they incur. Let go back to history . When communist took over in China, they immediately eradicate the 3 devil : namely prostitution, gambling and drug addiction. Now look at China prostitution is more prevelent ( look at Macau,Dongguan) gambling : casino is everywhere in Asia , look who are the high roller or gambler, drug addiction, most of the drug lord here in Asia are from china. Now what I am saying we should follow Singapore lead in fighting drug , not thru EJK. Like widodo of Indonesia he use the full force of the law , not the law of wild wild west

    • Catzy Is The Best

      • Tony

There’s at least 2 ways to solve drug-related crimes… Bottom-up or Top-Down.

        • Yousuf Golle

      • Pinoy OFW

I am sure Duterte administration has their strategy in placed to catch big fish.. just wait po.. this cannot be done instantly. I strong believed mga big fish ay natatakot na lumabas and maybe nasa ibang bansa na sila for safe haven. pero I am sure mga names nila nasa interpol watchlist na..

    • sexedtooearly

Ilang taon ba bago nahuli si Pablo Escobar, di ba several years. Bago yun marami munang namatay sa drug war in Colombia. At hindi lang yun, nung namatay si Escobar, lumipat lang from Medellin to Cali ang cartel. what am I saying, even if you capture a big fish, another one will emerge. What DU30 is doing is to break the system of distribution, sowing fear to anyone involved in it. This is his strategy which is completely different approach from what the Colombians did.

      • Chelo Marie Dychingco

Ang galing ng analysis na to. I agree on this.

      • Tony

Yes tama may iba isda papalit , Kaya ang sinasabi gayahin natin ang batas nga singapore. Wala Sila drug lord , bakit takot ang drug lord sa singapore, dahil slam nila patay sila

        • OisinsList

It takes a man with the political will of Du30 to make it happen. They lucky because the Singaporeans are obedient to their leader. Problema sa atin, ang daming kumokontra ang nagmamagaling, at to much politics.

          • Tony

Sorry , but I don’t think you have read the autobiography of pm lee. Which I had, during the early part of Singapore independence , he had to endure many problem, the communist Chinese, which is inciting rebellion, anyway please read the Singapore story and from third to first both written by PM Lee, in this book how difficult PM LEE, as to face before he achieve the singapore that is now we are seeing. PM lee never use the wild Wild West law, he use the law in fighting the criminal .

      • Tony

What i said was, mali po kayo nang sabihin nyo na mahihirap at walng druglord ang nkukulong at napapatay.

          • Tony

This is just the ningas kugon effect; after every thing is razed to the ground by fire, more wild, uncontrollable grass will grow. Davao is a good example, a part of the lawless Mindanao where the President threatened to declare Martial law.

    • Shin Asura

and is that a prime example of crab mentality? Pessimism? or simply negative mentality?

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism but spreading negativity that is yet to happen isn’t going to help this country. If you know this is a “ningas kugon effect”, since you are a well informed person, then are you just gonna sit there, type on your computer, make a comment and do nothing?

And don’t try to throw back the question at me.

      • Wan23

        same impression! lol.

        • Gisingbayanko

Another heartless, selfish citizen who’d rather hide his head in the sand than face the problem head on and do something positive for the oppressed, downtrodden poorest of the poor kababayan.

      • Gisingbayanko

A nation is like human body; if any part of its body is pain, the whole being will be in agony, sick or depressed. If it’s your sick body, you’ll seek total, permanent cure of the cause of the illness and not simply symptoms alleviation.
When the helpless poor, the bottom 40% of the population are experiencing hunger, sickness and diseases, persecution, injustice, murder and dead; as a well off citizen, will you simply kill your conscience, ignore, shut them out and support Santo Digong’s kill, kill, murder, murder based solution to eliminate them? If you support him, what has happened to your conscience, Humanity, sense of justice, mercy, grace, compassion, magnanimity?

        • Shin Asura

          TLDR: Try again.
I am not sure if you miss what I was trying to say here. Let me say it again, “There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism”. You said it yourself, that at least you want to be a voice. That is fine and all, until that “voice” stops being constructive, until stops its function to help reshape the future.

Try reading your statement, it basically says,
(Ningas kugon) “This is all a wasted effort, it will never be finished anyway”. That helps reshape the future? It’s as if you were saying “just don’t try at all. Cuz nothing will become of this.”

          • Gisingbayanko

The truth hurts when it penetrate your conscience; especially when you support the murder of your fellow human beings who’re considered as useless animals just because they are victims of drugs and corruption and above all, for being poor and defenseless.

          • Shin Asura

Except I never said murder was okay. I feel like I am talking to wall.
You’re pretty good at dodging questions & responsibilities and sweeping it under the rug huh?

          • Gisingbayanko

Now who’s doing that? When murder, fabrication of evidence and perversion of due process to persecute political enemies have become the standard practice of this government?

          • Shin Asura

I know what you are trying to say. But did my statements come across? Nope, you only stated your opinion and never even bothered answering my questions. And you have this preconceived notions that I’m a supporter of your enemy. Geez…

          • Gisingbayanko

            It ain’t worthwhile doing it.

          • Shin Asura

Such great understanding. Good luck trying to spread words that will “reshape” the future. A preacher might have been a lot more convincing though.

In the provincial town where I visit often, the usual nightly congregations of drug users on lighted street corners had disappeared since PRRD took office. Locals say the drug trade had significantly subsided and many users signed up willingly for rehab and counseling. Multiply this on a nationwide scale and you have a safer country to live in. Less than a year into office and Duterte is making an impact on solving the drug problem that the Liberal Party tolerated and very likely profited from.

The survey questions did not specifically asked if the respondents feel safe. It is not a yes or no questions that you must be used to. The survey was based on various attributes on safety and economics, like government efforts in fighting criminality which have an approval rating of 84% or increasing peace in the country with an approval rating of 72%. The 82% must have been calculated using the weighted average for some specific attributes, and yes I would like to know also how.

What is the root cause of most crime? Is it really drugs or is it poverty? People may feel safer that drugs are in decline, but poverty is still there and will that change because of the war on drugs? Perception and reality are 2 different things. We’ll see the true results soon enough.

2nd, the survey was merely BASED ON respondent’s FEELINGS, NOT FACTS or NOT STATISTICS which means, the respondent’s opinion can be inaccurate and deceptive. So we cannot know the ACTUAL peace & order in Metro Manila based only on this. Dapat ang ilabas ng NCRPO at PNP ay ang updated na CRIME INDEX RATE or any form of ACTUAL STATISTICS of crime incidence. We base the peace & order situation on ACTUAL DATA and NOT JUST MERE FEELINGS. okey ba mga ka-DDS?
