Government lawyers will spring a surprise in today’s oral arguments by the Supreme Court at 2 p.m. on the petition of Senator Leila De Lima to nullify her arrest on illegal drug trading charges.
“Marami kaming points, procedural as well as substantive. But you will be in for a surprise. Meron kaming pang-gulpi de gulat,” Solicitor General Jose Calida said.
Calida said they have prepared evidence that will show how “devious” De Lima really is.
“This is like the left straight ni [boxing icon and Senator Manny] Pacquiao. They will not know what will hit them,” he said.
Calida is expected to argue for Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa and Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero who ordered De Lima’s arrest on February 23.
