Cebu City — More government employees and retirees trooped to the branch of Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) in Cebu City, claiming they were also victims of ATM skimming.
More victims surfaced following the arrest of three Romanians suspected of carrying out the ATM hacking, which bank officials said have compromised 2,000 accounts.
Lonup Alesandrou, Razvan Aurelian, and Cosal Ion were first invited by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for questioning Friday based on footage of the security cameras installed at the Landbank branch in Barangay Banilad.
City Councilor David Tumulak believes there are other suspects behind the series of ATM skimming incidents in Cebu.
Tumulak, who heads the city’s committee on Public Order and Safety, was among the victims of ATM skimming last August. He has a copy of a video clip showing a individual making an the unauthorized withdrawal from his account.
Tumulak urged the NBI, city police, Bureau of Immigration, Cebu Bankers Club and technical people from banks to work together in investigating the skimming.
