Sta. Rosa City, Laguna — Two Nigerians were arrested for allegedly using fake and fictitious passports in claiming money remittance at a money transfer branch in Balibago Complex, this city over the weekend.

Police said Lawrence Uchenna Iriaka, 43, married, and Promise K. Dakromoh, 25, single, and both residing at Block 31, Lot-35, Grand Cheznut Subd., Barangay Pulong Santa Cruz, here, were arrested after causing a commotion at the Cebuana Lhuillier branch around 4 p.m. last Friday.

Cebuana branch Assistant Manager Edmund M. Sanchez Jr. had questioned the identification documents presented by the Nigerians and later sought police assistance.

Upon seeing the police mobile patrol, the two foreigners scampered away but were chased and caught by Police Officer2 Apopot and PO1 Casibang.

Further investigation showed that the two Nigerians had earlier claimed a money remittance at another Cebuana branch in San Pedro City, Laguna, using fake credentials.

Police said the two are being investigated for involvement in online scams.
