Some 120 families were rendered homeless when fire struck a residential area in Quezon City Wednesday afternoon.
Quezon City fire district chief Senior Supt. Manuel Manuel said the fire first broke out at the second floor residence of Rico Roldan at Pantranco Compound on Himlayan Road, Barangay Pasong Tamo around 1:15 p.m.
The fire reached third alarm. 38 firefighting team responded to the scene.
Manuel said the blaze damaged around 50 other houses.
The conflagration was placed under control three hours later . Damage to property was initially pegged at P500,000.
10 individuals, including one firefighter were injured.
Manuel, meanwhile, said his office will intensify its information drive on ways to prevent fires, especially with the hot summer months approaching.
