Spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy in Yangon, the Memorandum of Understanding for Sister City Cooperation, which was sealed a week ago, aims to foster closer relations between the two local governments.

Myanmar’s former capital, Yangon, is a city with nearly 5 million inhabitants. It is Myanmar’s largest city and remains the country’s business center. On the other hand, Quezon City, with a population of nearly three million, is one of the Philippines’ largest cities. It was the country’s capital for nearly three decades.

The seven-member delegation from Yangon visited water treatment plants in Quezon City and the new township developments in Laguna as part of the study tour.
