The Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested seven individuals due to illegal discharge of firearms from different parts of the country — three from PRO-1 (Ilocos Region), three in PRO-7 and one in Cordillera region.
PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief and spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Monday said the number of persons arrested was based on their monitoring under the “Ligtas Paskuhan 2016” as of 8 a.m. of Dec. 26 and that there are eight cases of illegal discharge of firearms.
On the other hand, three cases of stray bullets were recorded, of which three were from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 (Western Visayas) and one case from the PRO-12.
In the PNP’s campaign against illegal possession, use or sale of firecrackers, three were recorded in PRO-11.
Eight individuals were recorded injured due to firecrackers — five in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), two in PRO-1 and one in PRO-3 (Central Luzon).
No fire incident was reported due to firecrackers. (PNA)
